When you imagine the perfect candy bar, what is it made of? Chances are, you can bring this idea to life with the help of the cleverly named "Chocolate Lab" at Sweet! Hollywood.
Sweet! is absolutely massive, room after room full of candy choices.
If you've never understood the phrase, "I felt like a kid in a candy store!", you will after setting foot inside this candy shop located inside the Hollywood and Highland Complex on Hollywood Boulevard in, of course, Hollywood, California.
The selection of candies was a bit overwhelming until we saw the option to create our very own chocolate bar at the Chocolate Lab.
We couldn't pass up this opportunity at the most awesome candy store we've ever visited (C'mon...how many other candy stores have rooms dedicated to Elvira and RuPaul?).
The setup of the custom chocolate bar area is so genius. Sometimes, I have to try things just because the idea is so, so smart or clever.
Because we were visiting on a Sunday, we basically had the entire massive store to ourselves.
This also meant that there were few employees and screens used for ordering, like the ones pictured above, were turned off. But that didn't mean we couldn't make our candy bar!
Build Your Own Chocolate Bar order form
Using a paper form, we carefully discussed and picked out our chocolate, filling, and inclusions. Any guesses as to what we picked?
Compromise was our friend. We're great at it.
Because I love dark chocolate and Mark loves white chocolate...we went with milk chocolate that we both like! The caramel filling was a no-brainer because it's one of Mark's favorite sweets EVER. For inclusions, we went with cookie dough, chocolate chip cookies, and M&Ms...agreeing whole-heartedly on each.
Satisfied with our choices, we skipped our form over to the smiling candy bar expert in the Chocolate Lab who got right to work creating our masterpiece!
We'll take you on a photographic journey of the candy bar-making process:
The selection of yummy fillings! We went with the smooooooth caramel!
Adding our caramel filling into our milk chocolate candy bar mold.
Over the filling, chocolate chip cookie pieces, cookie dough, and M&Ms were added.
She really shoved a ton of goodies inside the bar! I don't think there was any empty space left!
With the filling and inclusions filling the bar to the brim, chocolate was poured over to make the back of the bar. The machine vibrated the candy bar to eliminate air bubbles, and extra chocolate was scraped off with a squeegee.
Our beautiful chocolate bar came wrapped in foil and housed in a precious Chocolate Lab box. Our collaboration made one delectable treat!
Jenni outside of Sweet!
We really didn't expect this candy store to impress us because of its location in the middle of such a touristy area, but it was amazing.
The selection, including the hand-made treats in the Wonka room, was incredible! This place is also good for a laugh...be sure to check out the vending machine called "Taking Candy from a Baby" or dispense your own candy from a toilet!
