DIY Mardi Gras Bead Mosaic Frame

A Mardi Gras-Themed project just in time for you to create while eating some King Cake!

If you're like most people, you love getting Mardi Gras beads, but then what do you do with them after the party or parade? How about a keepsake mosaic frame for that souvenir New Orleans photo? I can show you how!

Supplies

Supplies:
1. Wooden frame
2. About 8 strands of Mardi Gras beads
3. Grout
4. Glue (Try E-6000, but work in a well-ventilated area)
5. Rubber gloves to keep your hands clean
6. Newspaper or a covering to keep your work area clean
7. An old washcloth
8. An acrylic sealer (to seal the grout)

In Progress

Instructions:

1. Decide on a design for your beads, and cut them the desired length. I just made stripes, but wouldn't spirals be pretty?

2. Glue your beads into place, and let them completely dry (I left mine overnight).

3. Mix your grout according to instructions and apply. Fill in all the space in, around, under the beads. I always make sure to wipe it thinly along all the edges so the frame is all the same color. When the grout starts drying, you can use your (wet) washcloth to wipe the grout off of the top of the beads, allowing the colors to really pop!

4. Let the grout completely dry (again, I left mine overnight), spray with sealer and let THAT dry, and you're done! Beautiful!

Finished Frame

Something as simple as cheap, plastic Mardi Gras beads can hold great memories.
